I have a Rangoon creeper, a maid of Orleans jasmine and an Orange zest cestrum all have very little or no odor.
my most fragrant plants are the sweet almond verbena and an Abraham Darby (Austin) rose.
any ideas if I could be doing something wrong??
thanks

Hi,

When were you smelling your Jasmine and Cestrum?
Jasmines and Cestrum release their fragrance only at night. However they have no scent during day. However it seems that Cestrum Oranage Peel is bit iffy in the wafting department. See the link.

Also, out of curiosity how old are your plants?

Here is a link that might be useful: Cestrum orange Peel thread

Maid of Orleans jasmine is fragrant during the day. It should be a pretty strong fragrance.

Thanks for correcting me botaniphile. I remember as a kid, we had a 5 petaled jasmine, which was fragrant during the night only. In retrospect I think it was Jasminum officinale and not Sambac.

Honest mistake! HTH :)

OP - the only thing I can think of is that scents are different to different people. What might seem strong to one person can be nonexistent to another. For example, my husband can't detect scent in my Louis Philippe rose, while I find it fruity and spicy. I can't think of any cultural requirements that would affect scent.
