Mission accomplished! :)
I went to Upland Nursery today... I honestly don't know why I went there again. They were rude to me last year at the OC flower show, then on the phone, and again in person. A year later it's pretty much the same!
I went in there asking for the Vietnamese Gardenia because another member suggested the place. I walked back and forth but couldn't find any. It was hard to find since I didn't even know what I was looking for. When I asked, they told me it was "Near the front". Well the front has thousands of plants how was I supposed to find them? The thing is, there was only one other customer there besides myself, so it wasn't like they were too swamped to help me. Luckily the Mexican worker walked me over. At check out I asked the Asian dude if I should repot the plants and which gallon size. His curt answer... "Bigger". Wowza very helpful buddy! So I got my two Vietnamese Gardenia and left. Doubt I will be returning.
Here are my two Vietnamese Gardenias. For all the crap I have to put up with to get them, they better smell heavenly! LOL. With higher pricing and non existing customer service I cannot recommend this place.
My next stop....Green Mart again per another member's suggestion and what a difference! From the moment I walked in I was greeted with a smile. She then asked what I was looking for so I just said "Your most fragrant plants".
As soon as we walked into the back I smelled something AMAZING!! Sniffing my way around I spotted this!
She had 5 but the other 3 were sold so I grabbed the last two. I would have easily took all 5 home with me, that was how amazing the scent was.
Holy cow I am so in love with Aglaia Odorata! Each were around 2.5' tall and loaded w/ flowers. At $39 each I couldn't help but bought both.
Then she led me to another area and told me to sniff this other plant. Shoot... whatever it was I must take her home too! Unfortunately the blooming one was way too large so I took home the smaller version.
Here she is... Osmanthus Fragrans.
I then saw a bunch of smaller Jasmine which I bought just b/c I like the scent. I have no idea what they are. :) But they were only $8 each so I grabbed two.
Then she said to me you must get this one.
Ylang Ylang. I actually turned down the taller one for this 5.5' tree. I know nothing about this tree. So I will have to read up on this. But she said it's her favorite of them all. This Ylang Ylang either has 3 buds or 3 spent flowers I cannot tell for they are upside down... like they are hanging down instead facing up. So chances they're probably spent flowers. Oh well...
Here is the family shot of my fragrant plants I purchased today. I have no idea how to care for these. So I will be asking a lot of questions!
I did turn down the M. Figo something Banana. I am not a fan of bananas, I don't eat them so I certainly don't want to smell them! LOL.
Now I just need to get my hands on the elusive Belle of India! But this will keep me busy for a while until my Plumerias wake up.
