pruning a michelia alba
I've had a michelia alba in a container for about 2 years and is now about 7 feet tall and quite leggy. There is healthy growth at the end of the branches with a fair number of buds, but there are at least 5 -10 yellow leaves closer to the main trunk that drop each day. The container is east facing and I fertilize with osmocote and fish emulsion. Should I prune the plant to achieve fuller growth? I wasn't sure if this is the right time, and how much to remove. Will I hurt the plant if I remove the entire top section? I'm worried that if I prune too severly I will kill the plant!
