It depends what type of lavender it is. It seems both French and Spanish lavenders can be grown in tropics, provided good drainage.

Hi happyagain, congrats.

If you do a search in google for lavender in tropics you'll find some interesting info. If you really love them you can buy a French and a Spanish one and see which one fares better :-)

Thanks true-blue. Really appreciate your answer and links. :-D

Just got the spanish lavender seeds (written lavandula pendunculata. Looks like spanish lavender for me) hope they can germinate. I've tried growing lavender vera and munstead lavender before. But no luck they can grow at first but then the base start to turn brown and slow growth don't know what caused it.

I've once forgot to water them, they start to wilt and getting worse even after watering.

Most welcome.

I believe the lavenders you tried to grow are English lavender and they are not suitable for the tropics.

As you might have realized the nomenclature of lavenders is quite confusing.

However, it seems that Lavandula pendunculata is French lavender and lavandula st"chas is both French and Spanish....

Go figure....

Enjoy the process.
