Characterstics of Jolly Bee but shorter

whaas_5a(5A SE WI)April 16, 2009

Are there any geraniums out there that share the characteritics of Jolly Bee but are shorter?

#1 - foilage doesn't open up in the center (like rozanne)

#2 - long blooming (at least 3 solid months) .

#3 - Red fall color (most varieties accomplish this)

#4 - Foilage can't exceed 12" in height

#5 - Color doesn't matter

Plant will have eastern exposure, close to the house and used as a border in front of COREOPSIS ZAGREB and purplicious speedwell. Both thoes plants have gotten 24" tall.

The only ones that I can think of off-hand that come close to your expectations are the sanguineums, such as John Elsley, Ankum's Pride, etc. The cinereums are another possibility. None of these bloom continuously for three months, but tend to bloom off and on for a long period. For true continual bloom, I would go to an annual geranium (pelargonium).

Here is a link that might be useful: geranium Ankum's Pride
