How big do geranium plants grow?

albert_135(Sunset 2 or 3)June 14, 2012

There is a motel in Mt. Shasta City, CA that has a plant which looks like a geranium to me. It is over five feet tall and spreads more than five feet. The very few sickly flowers look like they might be geranium, not as convincing as the plant. It is outside. If in a pot then the pot is buried. Could this be a geranium?

It could well be a pelargonium aka geranium. They are perennial in mild climates. I have seen them trained up the front of houses and also huge ones in old greenhouses.

They are sometimes much more than perennial in milder climates - they become small evergreen shrubs. I have seen shrubby pelargoniums throughout parts of California. Not entirely uncommon in that area at all.
