Is your Buxton's blue, blue?

leo_prairie_view(2B Manitoba)August 15, 2007

I have one plant of Buxton's Blue that I grew from seed several years ago. I started with 5 plants but it is not really hardy here.I keep babying it along to have a blue geranium that blooms in the fall, but it is one of the pinkest geraniums I grow, not even a hint of blue. Fall is already starting here and the weather cool, so it shouldn't be the heat. It is under a rose that I have to keep feeding iron chelate for Chlorosis, could that be the cause?

I don't have Buxton's, but Johnson's Blue looks lavender to me, and only looks blue if I compare it to something pink. Photos of Buxton's Blue strike me the same way, but I know some photographs are off in regards to blues and reds. And maybe the old song says that lavender's blue, but it isn't so to me.

any wallichianum grown from seeds will produce a big range of seedlings from almost white to darkest blues and various pinks. If you would like to see some email me
