Quick question...which is easiest to grow - african violets or cape primrose?
African Violets are easier.
Streptocarpus requires drier conditions and a lot of successful AV growers when they start growing streptocarpus - they kill them by keeping wet - and they need to dry before watering.
Cape Primrose...this name is kind of going out of use, more and more people grow this plant and use the Latin name "Streptocarpus" - means something like a curling fruit. The seed pod of this plant curls when it ripens and releases the seeds.
The second issue - it likes the temperatures under 75F. Crank your airconditioner!
Thanks Irina! Sounds like I might better go with the violets -especilly since GA is not known for being cool.
Interesting information, thanks, Irina.
