Varigated Episcia question

sandynyJune 19, 2013

Has anyone had any success growing varigated episcia's without having to grow them in a terrarium or greenhouse? I would love to get one, but am not sure it would survive growing in a window. I have some other episcia's that I grow, but no varigated ones. If you have had success growing one in a window or under lights, which one is the hardiest of the varigated's?

Sandy -

they only grow covered - window can be an issue because they can get overheated there. There 2 variegated ones that are potentially growing without cover if the humidity is high -= Pink Smoke and Cleopatra Canadian clone. Pink Smoke grows on the light shelf for me on a wick and mat with humidity about 50% in a basement in a plant room. I saw gorgeous Cleopatra CC in Florida - but humidity there is high. try Pink Smoke - it is the toughest of them.

Thank you Irinia!
Appreciate the information. I have grow lights and can provide humidity, so maybe I will try the pink smoke.
Thanks again,
