Any good sources for achimenes through mailorder in US? Anyone know what happened to Karleen's Achimenes of Valdosta, GA? Thx. Dael

I got most of mine from Lauray of Salisbury, who has a very nice long list, but only ships rhizomes in the spring. Keep her in mind for next year!

There are several gesneriad specialists who list Achimenes--check the AGGS website for names & websites for suppliers. I've also found a few Achimenes listed by other sources, although the selection isn't nearly as extensive: Brent & Becky's Bulbs, McClure & Zimmerman.

Here is a link that might be useful: AGGS suppliers list

I spoke to Karleen last year. She said due to death and illness in her family, she had lost most of her stock of Achimenes. I hope she will be able to get back in business again. She had such a long list of Achimenes. I have also ordered from Kartuz Greenhouses (Vista, CA) ( They are an excellent source.
