Which way does this silly rhizome go?

bruggirlnw(z8OR)March 11, 2007

Happy Sunday everyone!

I have a white ginger rhizome and I cannot for the life of me figure out which way to plant it. It is somewhat bow shaped, I don't see anything resembling the start of roots. It almost looks like there could be eyes on either side of it. How do I know which way is up? Any other hints?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If it is bow shaped put the lowest part of the bow down. Either way.....that sucker will grow for you if the conditions are right. It spreads like crazy for me and I don't think it would care which way it was planted! LOL!

You could always plant it on its side. That is what I do when I am in doubt.
