Ideas for Freeway Exit Ramp

springlering(7)May 10, 2011

Does anyone have experience transforming a small wedge of a freeway ramp?

We have a triangular patch at the exit that is right at the entrance to our neighborhood, but don't know what to do with it. Ideally it would be low maintenance, low water need, and easily, inexpensively, and attractively landscaped. Nothing with thorns, as it will have to be cleared of litter every so often, and no tall growth that would block drivers' lines of sight.

It's not very large, maybe the size of a small room. Neighborhood is older, small bungalow style homes, and a large MARTA station is adjacent as well.

Rocks:) Not really kidding...You could do something Japanese garden-ish with one large rock, a few small ones, a clump or two of pampas, some gravel and/or ground cover. I'd say juniper except it does catch litter and look awful. A single specimen juniper might be nice.
