Qustion about peanuts...

MickEmeryMay 28, 2013

Do all types of peanuts produce by runners? I noticed the different types ie: Runner, Virginia, Spanish and Valencia.
I'd like to try peanuts in my raised beds.

Thanks,
Mick

No they grow very much like a bush bean except that the pods peg down under ground. Runners are biiger plants and long season grown mostly in the deep south. Virginia are the fancy cocktail type peanuts grown in North carolina and Virginia and like climates. Spanish are the shortest season, small, and adapted to mosre varied growing conditions.
