Watermelon/pumpkin disease?

jm52219January 10, 2013

Hey I am posting regarding a problem with both my pumpkins and watermelons. I have just returned from a three week holiday and have notice that I have around 5 sugar baby watermelon and upcoming butternut pumpkins (they are planted about 2 metres apart). I have noticed that on some of the watermelon leaves there are small yellow spots and on the pumpkin plants large patches of yellow. It has been extremely hot for about two weeks reaching temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius on many days. Is this a problem? A picture is attached though the spots are more widespread on many others.

Are those tiny white things along the main vein bug eggs or just something on the plant? If bug eggs, see the link below.
