making your own hand held saws

fbdbfh(Z9 Oak Hill ,FL)April 17, 2005

I was wondering if anyone has an idea for making your own hand held saws from regular size jig saw blades that would fit in a wooden handle or maybe in a exacto blade handle?? I have issues when it comes to using power tools!! I have tryed using a coping saw and they are just too big and I have tryed using a jigsaw blade wrapped with duct tape but it hurts my hands too much so I want to make a small hand held . Hope you have some ideas that might get my creative juices flowing.

Thanks in advance for all your help

Have a Gourgeous Day

I'll second the pumpkin carving saws. I found I can make pretty intricate cuts using those. I used one for cutting the leaf on the gourd pictured in the link below.

could you please let me know where I might get this wonderful saw?? Not sure where to find it??
Thanx for your help.
The gourd is very nice
I hope to learn alot from doing gourd crafting so far so good other than the saw issues.

I don't know if this will work but you might try it. I have a mini-jig saw and instead of buying the expense blades for the mini I use scroll saw blades and cut them into shorter pieces for the mini. The scroll saw blades just might fit an Excacto knife. If so, let me know, please.
