Growing gourds

wild_mountain_roseApril 18, 2006

Hi, I'm new to the group and new to planting gourds. I've just moved to east TN, (Zone 6-B I believe) and I was wondering how well gourds will grow here and when to plant them. Any tips would be *most appreciated. Thanks much! ~wild_mountain_rose~

Welcome to the gourd forum, hope you will visit often.

I recommend that you check the hardiness zone map to see when you might plant. Also, the Cooperative Extension Service/Master Gardener's in your county should be able to help. You want your soil temps to be fairly warm before you plant.
I hope you'll enjoy growing gourds, but I must warn you that they can be quite addictive.
