looking for Agrostis elegans

jean001(z8aPortland, OR)February 27, 2005

An acquaintance is trying to locate a bentgrass (Agrostis elegans) which she read about. It's supposed to be useful in flower arrangements, and can be used either fresh or dried.

She's looking for either seeds or plants. Do you know of a source?

That one's tough, jean. After searching on Google, I found a site that listed the plant's synonym as being Agrostis tenerrima. I then searched with that name, only to find that on this translated site, it is listed as being "very rare....at the edge of extinction in France."

I hope someone else is more successful.

Thanks for the info, Brenda. You found more than I did when I searched online.

Jean, when I want to find a source for a grass, I often froogle, insead of google (same site). If that fails you, try writing a query to the folks at bluestem.ca (They're in BC, just north of Spokane.)

Here is a link that might be useful: Bluestem Nursery
