By mid June every last squash plant of mine will be destroyed. Has anyone reliably, repeatedly managed tokeep them away?...If so, how did you do it?
I mainly cope by planting c. moschata varieties. They, and c. agyrosperma (cushaws) generally resist borers.
c. moschata varieties (not exhaustive)
An acorn squash (c. pepo) which shows a fair amount of resistance to borers is Scarchuks Supreme, offered by Sandhill Preservation Center.
Hope this helps. I've never managed to mechanically prevent borers on vining squash, though, laying aluminum foil, on the ground, around the main stem, of bush squash seems to help (don't ask me why)!
