life span of feather grass?

I'm curious about the life span of feather grass (Nassella tenuissima -- Stipa tenuissima) -- does anyone know how long-lived it is? I know it self-sows readily but am wondering how long an individual plant might last. I thought I read somewhere it's relatively short-lived but can't find specific information. I have half a dozen plants and really enjoy it; just want to be prepared.

carol_ann...neither of my grass books mention it as being shortlived. That said, they both suggest that it's difficult to divide, and suggest propagation from seed. As most grasses tend to get raggedy with age, it might be a good idea to keep a crop of rookies coming along to back up the starting team.
