very new to ornamental grasses and need help

weedsmakemecrazyApril 26, 2008

Last year I planted about 7 ornamental grasses - can't remember all the names of the plants (I'm bad about that...I just plant if I like it and throw away the tag...I'm learning not to do that!), but only the Karl Foresters seem to be coming back...? I know there is a porcupine grass, something called Winddancer, a fountain grass and a varigated giant reed grass. I live in Massachusetts in Zone it too early to expect new growth? My Karl Foresters are already about knee high in their second year, so I was fearing the rest didn't make it?

Let me know if you have any insight.

Karl Foerster is a cool season grass and starts growth (and blooms) long before most of the other grasses. I assume you've cut them all back. Peer inside the clumps and see if you don't see a little new growth.
