Tree Planting Question

lucyatlanta(Z 7 GA)June 29, 2010

I just got home from visiting my Mom in Memphis with three Curly Q Willows she rooted for me. They were in pots when I dug them up and doing well. Considering the heat we are having, is it better to plant them in the ground now or keep in a pot until fall? Any feedback appreciated. Thx. -Lucy

They'd probably be much better off if you just waited until fall to plant them. Just keep the pots in a nice semi-shady location until late September or October and then plant and their roots systems will have all winter to develop without the shock of the heat and you won't have to water nearly as much.

I would wait for the fall too - it would be easier on both of you!
