A use for morning glory vines in the pumpkin patch

weirdtrevJuly 29, 2008

I am always looking for a way to cut costs in the garden and I realized morning glory vines make useful temporary rope. Today I found several pumpkin/gourd vines trying to get away from the trellis they were on, so I pulled up a wild morning glory vine and used it as a rope. They work very well to hold the vines in place until the tendrils can do their job. The morning glory vines were flexible enough for me to tie knots without them breaking.

Have not tried that as I don't trellis squash, but they are perfect for tying up the heads of fall grown cauliflower. They are not ready early enogh for the spring crop.
