Looking for a Bush Mallow?? Need identity

frankielynnsie(7B)July 6, 2011

I had a beautiful "bush" mallow that I bought from a Granny lady on the side of the road along coastal Georgia many many years ago. I am trying to find out the correct name for it so I can find a replacement. It would grow from the ground to 4 foot tall/wide each year, had small, 25 cent size pale pink flowers all over it each summer, would die back to the ground in winter. It did produce some seedlings but none since it died back and hasn't returned in the last 3 years. It had a many branched dense bush form. Leaves shaped like Rose of Sharon leaves. I don't have any pictures or seeds to start again and would love another. It may be a 'sea mallow' I have tried to find it on the internet.

If this sounds familiar to you and you know the identity I would love to know the correct name and a possible source.

That sort of looks like it. The flowers look right, just not the form. The seed pods look right. Thanks, I will try it out.
