Is this some kind of oats or rye ??

Could anyone tell me what this could be ? Growing in full sun, well drained soil. Thank you very much. Pretty neat looking pretty sure it is a native plant, could be hay lol

Definitely NOT a cereal grain like rye or oats. More along the lines of a turf or hay/meadow type grass, but I'm not exactly sure what. Possibly some species of fescue or brome.

It's driven me nuts since you posted the photo. I KNOW I've seen it before, and I think I ID'd it, but, for the life of me, I can't remember..and I can't find it.

Can you post more photos? Give us a single blooming stalk, with closeups of both the flower and the stalk. Also, a single non-flowering blade of the grass in closeup.
