seeding fountain grasses.....

niwahito(z5 IL)August 22, 2006

Is there ANY kind of (attractive) fountain grass for which I CAN get seed, and that will grow true to the parent? I have Hamelin, an dlove it, but want something that will seed and spread. Any suggestions (especially those with pictures!) will be MUCH appreciated!

Both species Fountain Grass and P.a.'Moudry' will come true from seed.

For pics, look at my "Let's See Some Grasses" thread.

achnatherum(z4or3 Ontario)

also from seed
Pennisetum orientale

Annual in zone 5
Pennisetum setaceum (ruppelii)
Pennisetum villosum

btw, you can easily propagate the 'named cultivar' by division in the spring ~ making many in a short amount of time
