pampass grass in rain

flowerpower_girlSeptember 30, 2005

Hi all, I have some pampass grass that just gets trashed in heavy rain.... which we get a lot of on the west coast. Is there anyway to stake them effectively so that the stalks don't keep snapping?

Any advice is appreciated.

I've used a remesh 'shelf' to support large ornamental grasses. Take an appropriately sized section of remesh, and suspend it at each corner from 4 pieces of rebar, driven into the ground. Set it up about 2' over the clump of grass, after you've given the grass it's early spring haircut. The grass will grow up through the mesh, and be supported by it. It doesn't look very good until the grass grows, but eventually it almost disappears.
