Fountain Grass (perennial) WOW!

mary_maxSeptember 20, 2013

It is beautiful and doing a real show. I have it as a border. My question is should I cut the seed heads off. Last year I did cut them off but thought maybe I should leave for critters. ? ? I don't want it to sow all over the garden. This is the perennial fountain grass. Appreciate your comments on this. Thanks so much.

You probably don't have to deadhead them. It isn't likely you'll get reseeded volunteers in your zone. Chances are the seeds won't ripen to viable, and the birds love them, ripe or not.

Do you know which cultivar you have?

Thanks for the help Donn. No I don't know what type this grass is other than a fountain grass. :) It is so beautiful. I am starting to really like grasses. Never used them before.
