cold weather veggies! can I direct sow or too late? help!

Please don't say 'no you can't direct sow it's too late'.

The winter here was very long and spring was extremely late getting here this year; by the time the snow finally melted, and at the time I had planned to do early direct sowings, it was rainy and cold, which means any seeds I would've planted would've rotted as a result.

I had somebody start some starter plants for me; some of the varieties of starter plants I thought I would be getting with cool weather stuff (cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, and napa cabbage) I didn't get.

I am wondering if I can direct sow lettuce, napa cabbage, cauliflower, and some asian greens, or if it is too late?

The cauliflower varieties I have are heat resistant.

Where in northern Michigan are you? If you are above the weather line bisecting the LP you are probably still OK to plant. If you are below that line (probably not if you identify yourself as from northern Michigan) then you should still be safe this year.

Your still a bit early for some. I normally start lettuce every few weeks right up to around October -sometimes November. I am in the thumb.
You can always use a cold frame to extend the season.
I ve harvested broccoli that was left out in the open as late as February.
