lucky nut tree/passion flower

NJG55(7B)October 8, 2013

Last spring I bought a lucky nut tree (yellow oleander/Thevitia peruviana) and a purple passiflora at a botanical garden in Florida and have grown them in containers here in Lawrenceville. What do I do with cold weather approaching? I routinely move other tender/tropical plants into the basement around this time of the year; although it's not a bright location, it has several windows, so most things survive. Should I add these newcomers, or will they make it outside? Would they be better off in the living areas, where there's more light? I don't have room for large containers and also need to keep poisonous plants away from pets.

Do more research, but I believe the passiflora is a perennial here and should be planted in your gardens. Don't fertilize now.

The oleander probably ditto.

Will be interested in learning more from other members. I haven't had passiflora here, but want it - love love love them.

Depends on the passionflower species. Not all the purple ones are the native one.
