Eating squash, pumpkin, etc. seeds

Do you eat seeds from ALL kinds of squash, pumpkins, and gourds? How about watermelon, cantaloupe, etc? Are any of them bad for you and to be avoided. I'm guessing some might not be tasty, but I'm wondering if any are harmful to eat.

Also, do you eat them whole or take out only the inner soft part?

I've eaten pumpkin seeds whole and opened for years. I've recently eaten many new kinds whole and realized I wasn't sure if that was healthy or asking for trouble.

What are your favorites to eat whole? Opened (is it called "peeled")? Do you cook them, season them, etc?

Not sure about watermelon and african gourds, but all Cucurbita species (pumpkins, squash, american ornamental gourds) and all Cucumis species (cucumbers, true melons, cantaloupe, etc.) have edible seeds. I know that some species of Lagenaria have minor amounts of toxins in the mature seeds, but I'm not sure whether the toxins get broken down upon roasting or otherwise.
