Power tools for cutting back grasses

rusty_blackhaw(6a)December 15, 2012

I am looking at a rechargeable cordless trimmer for cutting back grasses in winter/early spring.

Are any of these able to power through dead stalks readily enough? It would be nice to avoid having to chop through them manually and minimize contact with sharp grass edges.

I haven't used one, but I imagine the Ryobi 40V hedge trimmer could handle the job. I just started using a power hedge trimmer last year, but it's a much less expensive corded model. It zips right through my grasses, even the large-stalk Ravenna Grass and Arundo.
