Identify this grass variety

Jim213October 16, 2012

Hello Gardeners

I have a variety of grass that grows near our cottage - just north of Toronto Ontario - see attached picture.

It seems to grow wild/naturally in the area.

It grows to about 4 - 6 inches, it is soft under foot, and quite hardy.

It has a wiry leaf (i.e. not a broad flat leaf).

I would like to grow more of it - if I could find a way to propagate its expansion.

Q1: Can anyone identify this grass?

Q2: Can you tell me how to buy seed (or to encourage it to expand naturally)?

Did you ever get an answer on this one? It appears to be some sort of wild sedge - carex family.
