Herb envy

Just thought I'd wind up all you people struggling to keep your bay trees going through the Winter with this picture of my neighbour's tree - and yes that is a full-sized garden shed. But just remember, come Summer, when you are sick of fresh tomatoes and basil, I will be looking at a few blighted toms and a spindly basil with three leaves under grey skies and drizzle.

That is a large bay tree.

Here it is:

By my calculations, that one tree contains enough leaves to season every stock pot in Britain.

Still, too bad about the basil and tomatoes ... which grow in abundance here and make a nice sauce with a leaf or two from our potted bays ....
