I am looking for a recipe for Sweet Spicy Garlic Dill pickles. I have found a Sweet Garlic Dill recipe from Small Batch Preserving, Can I use this and just add chili flakes and a pepper to the jar, or does anyone know of a recipe?
PS I am wanting this for canning.
You can add any dried spices you like, so pepper flakes or whole dried red peppers (which are very attractive in the jar) can easily be added to the recipe.
So with using the small batch preserving recipe for pickles can it safely be doubled or tripled??
Yes, as long as you maintain the same proportions, do not increase the stipulated jar size and use the same processing time.
You could also safely add pickle crisp (i.e. calcium chloride) to the recipe for crisper pickles, if you desire.
