Different type of cilantro

maifleur01April 26, 2010

I found a fern leafed cilantro at one of the local nurseries called Delfino. It has apparently been out for several year but I have never seen it. The plant looks like dill rather than the broader leafed normal kind. I normally do not use it in cooking but I did purchase a pot of the plant to see if it reseeds. Taste is the same as the regular cilantro.

I bet that is really nice and easy to mince for salsa!

We grow that type at our house, it reseeds very well for us, our back yard has a couple hundred plants growing from fallen seeds.I have a lb of seeds from last years plants that we will be planting soon.

I'm not sure off the top of my head if "Delfino" is a hybrid or not. You could check the information at the vendors that sell it. If it is, the reseeded plants will probably not be of the same type as the plant you purchased.
