Rosa sinensis --please tell me what you know about it?

last1earthMarch 15, 2005

Hello, I have been looking into this plant,

Hibiscus rosa sinensis. Because it is used

medicinally it is considered a herb too, right?

I am trying to find it to grow for hair

loss reasons. Whenever I search for it, the

results are confusing.

How do I grow, just a plain old, Hibiscus rosa sinensis?

Thank you guys.

This is also known as Tropical hibiscus. You can find them at most home improvement places (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc).
There was a series post a while back about using hibiscus to make teas. There was one post that had some links. One was: http://www.hibiscus.org/index.php
Since they're tropical, you (in NJ) would grow them as a potted plant - outside in summer, indoors in winter. They like sun and lots of water, but not wet feet.
There's also lots of info through the American Hibiscus Society: http://www.americanhibiscus.org/index.htm
Hope this helps.
