high altitude bananas?

banyan(NZ z10)March 29, 2010

Kia Ora Hawaiians,

I've recently come across a website suggesting Dwarf cavendish bananas are grown at up to 1300m elevation in Hawaii. Is this true? I would have thought that altitude would be too cold. If it is correct, does the fruit ripen up adequately?

Thanks,

Ben

Try Rajapuri. It tolerates wind better and sustained cool weather.
