How to revive my hibiscus tree

Rosa.SMay 5, 2013

I have a patio hibiscus tree that was attacked by aphids late summer. I did kill them, but now I have no leaves or blooms. Basically no sign of life. I touched one of the limbs and the bark just peeled off in my hand. The limb is moist and brownish green but not mushy. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Rosa S.,
If you purchased this 'tree' from a "box store", and you live in zone 8, it is likely your plant died months ago. These plants are tropical and must be brought in for the winter. If you bought a Hibiscus Syriacus tree (Rose of Sharon) you may have some rotting to deal with. When you say "Patio" I get the feeling this was on the tag. If so, the plant was a tropical and passed months ago. Head to the stores and grab some more. Now you have some knowledge.
