how to care for hib in Redding, zone 9

ellie_in_california(z9)June 20, 2005

Hi, I got a hibiscus from a friend. It is a beautiful peachy color with dark glossy leaves. It did not come with any name, just hibiscus.

To pot and put on the patio or plant? We get intense sun here and my gardenia needs shade... if that is any help.

Thanks for the help,

Summers not a problem where you are, it's the winter temps - Tropical hibiscus die when the temps get below 40F for more than a few days, so you'll need to keep yours in a pot. Good news is you can bring it in for the winter and enjoy the blooms indoors!

Thanks a lot. I will pot it up and keep it from the intense sun at least. Then I get to enjoy it in the winter inside.

Thanks a lot, I hate when they do not include names on plants!
