A friend and I tried to find black sapote at the Hilo Farmers Market when we were new here. We asked everybody, and finally found a woman who didn't speak much English but said "chocolate" so we thought we'd found it.

Oddly, it had a hard, reddish shell and lots of seed inside. Turned out to be a cacao pod! I can almost guarantee that your fruit will taste better than that raw cacao!

I only know about their seed program, http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/seed/ great prices, good quality, fast shipping. Lychee not included.
