um... my hardy hibiscus has BUDS on it already

My red hardy hibiscus has buds on it already, despite the fact that I pinched it once in mid-May. The last 2 years it bloomed in late summer/fall. If it starts blooming now will it rebloom in fall? Or should I cut the buds off so it will grow new ones in the fall like it's supposed to?

My fall-blooming asters are doing this too. I think it's because we had a warm spring that suddenly went chilly; we had 2 weeks of 60-degree weather in late May.

I would hate to lose the late summer/fall blooms when not much else is flowering. Is there anything I can do?

What kind of hibiscus is it? Texas star (coccineus) or one of the dinnerplate Baltimore types?

I have Texas Star and no buds yet - but if it blooms early that's fine with me. I think (not sure) that hibiscus is supposed to be constant blooming - I would be inclined to just let yours bloom and see what happens - give it some flower boosting fertilizer and see if you can get summer long bloom.

My asters aren't doing anything.
