Does anyone have any experience or net links on them? I am thinking of raising a couple.

Hi Beejb,
Have you checked out the farm life forum on this website yet? There are a lot of experienced people who could give you some help or at least point you in the right direction. I don't have pigs myself, but I'm a frequent flyer on the farm life site.

We've been raising pigs for five years. That's not a lot of experience but I might be able to help. What kind of information are you looking for?

What kind of operation were you thinking of. Tamworths are a great heritage bacon breed that would be awesome to help till your soil since they are hardy disease resitant out side pigs that love to root. Gilt(females) are generally calmer tham barrows(castrated males). Make sure if you get males to have them castrated to avoid boar taint. Newer breeds like the yorkshire or duroc aren't as active if you're not planning on clearing a field
