Has any one ever doubled the recipe for boston baked beans?

i made them last year one batch at a time, they take so long to process i did not want to have another batch sitting for that long before processing. making 4 batches this year. (i usually do this in the winter but did not have time this past winter) they are awesome! when i open them i add more onion and a bit more brown sugar and cook them on the fire pit..yum. just thought i would ask thank-you

That would be the problem - if you double the batch then you have to be able to process them all at one time. The filled jars can't sit on the counter cooling waiting to be processed. That voids the processing time required.

But if you double the batch, fill one set of jars for processing and leave the rest baking in the oven while the first batch is in the canner and THEN fill the second set of jars it would work.

It just means the second batch will have baked for an extra 90 mins. or so.

Thanks Dave, you just gave me an idea! since i have a double oven i will put second batch in 1/12 hours after the first batch goes in. (dont know why i did not think of that before :)
