Is this in hibiscus family(

I was told this was North Carolina Hibiscus. Doesn't look like any others that I have

Interesting...the leaves look like hibiscus but the flowers look like lilacs. I'd be interested to see if anyone else knows what it is.

That looks almost like Pentas lanceolata - at least the flower does.

Hmmm. Haven't heard of North Carolina Hibiscus, nor can I easily locate a plant with that common name.

Not pentas -- wrong leaves.

Beyond that, the photo is labeled Clerodendrum bungii -- that's in the family Verbenaceae. So, definitely not a hibiscus because it's in the family Malvaceae.

Nope. Its Clerodendron bungii or Cashmere Flower or sometimes called Glory Bower (the same name given to most of the clerodendrons). Not the most winter hardy variety of Clerodendron so I'm not sure why someone would call it anything Carolina - more like a Florida plant.
