Lettuce Seeds

stegerman1335(6)August 25, 2003

Not sure if this is the right forum, but... Has anyone harvested seeds from lettuce that has gone to seed? Sounds like a stupid question when I read it back, but we had some lettuce get really bitter, so I thought we would let it flower and seed and then try to harvest it. Any ideas??

The lettuces that self-seed in my garden every year are the first ones I harvest the following spring - they just 'know' when to germinate safely. You can save lettuce seed easily.
