I planted genovese basil from seed a couple of months and I harvested it a few times to make pesto. I remember it being really really good. Then all of a sudden I made it and it started tasting of licorice. I was wondering if this was a normal thing too happen. Keep in mind I do have thai basil in another container. Is there a chance that having that nearby has influenced the flavor of this basil?
I also seem to remember this same thing happening to me when I planted last years basil.
