Looking for a bright full orange med/tall

njmomma(z6 NJ)July 25, 2014

I don't know why but I'm obsessing about a daylily and wondering if it exists... full form, not huge bloom, not small, maybe 5 inches, bright orange, not reddish, maybe with some yellow in it, not dark orange, 3 feet tall (or close to it).

So, does this exist?

I don't know if this is the color you are looking for, but Oktoberfest has been great for us. It's about three feet tall and has bloomed like crazy this year. Bob

Check out 'Orange Velvet'. It's always on the popularity polls.

Dale Hensley has a 2014 - CHEROKEE BONFIRE. There's his FLAME RESISTANT, which is described as having a red eye. Dan Trimmer's ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, an evergreen.

Frank Smith's 'Matthew Kaskel' and Stamile's 'Orange Electric' would also be good choices.

This is a way different flower from Jackie Pryor ( Spring Bling). It is listed as yellow but in my yard it has orange tones blended in. It stands at 35" and has a 5" bloom and pristine foliage.

Hello! I'm a lurker here and have very much been enjoying everyone's photos!

I have Spellbinder that is a gorgeous orange and the size you're talking about. Another one I really like is Primal Scream which might fit the bill. It has a bit more variation in color.

Pumpkin Park is one I got as a bonus from Dan Trimmer this spring, and I've been growing it in a large pot. It's multiplied to six fans. I will be planting it in the ground in late August/early September. If you would like a couple fans of it, I'd be happy to send it to you then for postage. It's hard to plant such a big clump.

Here are the stats: PUMPKIN PARK (Dan Trimmer) Tetraploid (Sdlg. X Sdlg.) 33" EM. Re. Ev. 6 3/4" Easily seen from afar. PUMPKIN PARK is a circular, ruffled glowing pumpkin orange self with three lateral branches, a terminal Y and 22 buds per scape.
