Pests

I have the misfortune to have gotten those bugs in the bird seed. They are hatching fast and I have not found anything to repel them. I hate to spray anything poison, but these things are really a nuisance. Is there an herb or anything that will keep the population down.? Can't put everything in the freezer. Thanks in advance,. There are pantry moth traps, you can find them almost anywhere such as Home Depot, and tons of online sources - just google.

But the most important thing is to get rid of anything that has been contaminated. Get that bird seed OUT OF YOUR HOUSE. I'm sorry, but I would throw anything that has been infected away. Pantry moths can be extremely difficult to eradicate. They will infest everything from cereal to flour to dried herbal wreaths or chili peppers.

We are busily cleaning shelves, getting rid of herbs, etc. My son went on line and gave me a list of natural repellents, making a sachet of them. I suppose in cheesecloth. Among them rosemary, lavendar, thyme., eucalyptus. It said to just place the sachets on the shelves. I am going to try that. The bird seed is locked up in a cabinet outside the back door in a Rubbermaid container. You are right. They are nasty.. Barb
