What is this?

This is another plant I got at Silvia's party that I can't remember the name of. I think that Wallisadi brought them.

At first I thought it was an aloe but on second look I think it is a dyckia.

It's not a bromelliad, I think it's releated to the agave but not sure. I do know that everytime I do anything near it I get poked. That thing has some sharp spines!

It is Dyckia brevifolia, a very drought tolerant bromeliad.

Well with 2 votes for a bromelliad I will just say that this is the most painful brom that I currently have! I'll make sure to plant this somewhere that I don't have to work around all that often.
