Toothache Plant without Red Dot?

Brandon_the_Random(7b)July 29, 2014

I bought some seeds online from India, and throughout the growing process I was a bit doubtful if it was actually spilanthes since the leaf growth habit was slightly different than online images. Mainly because they weren't purplish, and the stems aren't as long. However, they did end up with yellow flowers that tingle when you eat them., but none of them have ever grown the trademark red dot of the "eyeball" flower. Is this not "Acmella Oleracea"? It does taste very grassy and not lemony as people described.

Can you share a photo? Spilanthes is one of my favorite herbs and the seeds are readily available from USA seed companies.

Here you go. Even very old and wilting flowers do not form a red dot. Do red dot spilanthes taste lemony or at least pleasant? Mine is a bit grassy.
